If you could deliver people what they want, your business, blog or service would probably do very well. Of course, there are no guarantees here, but I think this is the fastest way to find if a large number (of Twitter using) people want something or not -- or what they want in general, if you don't want to search for anything specific...
Google + Twitter + "I want" Search
This tip is useful for anyone looking for a niche or something to write about for your blog. It's a fast way to check what people are having trouble with and you can tweak the search terms in anyway you want depending on what you're looking for.
The tip in all it's simplicity:
- Go to Google search engine
- Type in the search term
- site:twitter.com "I want"
- Hit Enter
That's it. At the time I'm writing this I got over 1.6 million results with that search term. You could probably use Twitter's search for this too, but I find it a bit clunky so I like to use Google. For a quickie, click here to do the "I want" Twitter search right now.
Looking for Spesific Products or Topics
If you want to go to spesifics, just add something to the search, e.g.
What kind of car people are looking for
site:twitter.com "I want a car"
What books people want to read
site:twitter.com "I want to read"
What Twitter Users Need?
Like "I want", there are many other similar terms that you can use on the search, like "I need":
- Go to Google search engine
- Type in the search term
- site:twitter.com "I need"
- Hit Enter
Other Possibilities for the site:twitter.com Search
- tweak the search term towards your niche, topic or products and you'll might find some useful information.
- find people to follow and connect with by looking for topics you are interested in. For example, search for
- keywords and terms in your niche / topic
- books you like
- movies you like
- online tool you use
- a blog you read
- a person you like
- switch the site for another Social Network site, like Facebook
- site:facebook.com "I want"
- (personally I haven't used that much, but I'm guessing it'll work just as fine)
Other Sites To Look For Ideas
- 43Things, where people list, share and cheer their (life) goals
- Yahoo! Answers, where people are asking questions about anything and everything
- Google (Hot) Trends, to find what are being searched right now (or was searched on spesific date before)
Now it's your turn.
Do you have a spesific method you use to find topics to write about, products to promote, or even ideas for a whole new (Internet) business?
